The Garden City Pool sponsors a swim team that competes in the Nassau Municipal Swim Conference against other local municipal pools. All GC Pool members ages 6-16 as of June 1, 2023, are eligible to try out for our team. Prospective swimmers must be pool members prior to their tryout date.

 

Please note that our team is not to be used as swim lessons. All swimmers on our team must be able to swim multiple laps independently in the deep end. If you want to sign your child up for swim lessons through the GC Pool, please click here.

2023 Tryout Information

 

Tryouts for our 2023 season will be held June 12-15, from 6-8 p.m. All tryouts will be held in the adult pool. It is only necessary to attend ONE night of tryouts. Tryout results are based on swimmers' technique in all four strokes (free, back, breast, fly), times, number of participants, and coaches' evaluations.

 

Tryouts for swimmers ages 6-10 from 6-7 p.m. (arrive by 5:45 p.m.)

Tryouts for swimmers ages 11-17 from 8-9 p.m. (arrive by 6:45 p.m.)

2023 Tryout Form

You should complete a tryout form for EACH swimmer trying out. Results will be posted on the swim team board at the GC Pool on Saturday, June 17, 2023.

Registration Fee

 

The registration fee is $140 for the first swimmer in a family, $125 for the second swimmer, and $100 for each additional swimmer. This fee includes the team suit, swim cap, t-shirt, and end-of-season award. Payment should be in the form of a check payable to the Incorporated Village of Garden City.

 

Expectations 

 

All swimmers representing the Village of Garden City are expected to be models of good sportsmanship and team spirit. Swimmers must attend team practices regularly and compete in the required number of dual meets to be eligible for the championship meet at the end of the season.
