The Garden City Pool sponsors a summer swim team that competes in the Nassau Municipal Swim Conference against other local municipal pools. All GC Pool members ages 6-16 as of June 1, 2026, are eligible to try out for our team. Prospective swimmers must be pool members before their tryout date.

 

Our team is not to be used for swim lessons. All swimmers on our team must be able to swim multiple laps independently in the deep end. If you want to sign your child up for swim lessons through the GC Pool, you may click here.

2026 Tryout Information

 

Tryouts for our 2026 season will be held June 15-18, from 6-8 p.m. All tryouts will be in the Adult Pool. Swimmers only need to attend ONE night of tryouts. Tryout results are based on swimmers' technique in all four strokes (free, back, breast, fly), times, number of participants, and coaches' evaluations. Returning swimmers ages 11-16 who competed for the team last summer may submit current swim times in place of attending a physical tryout.

Tryout results will be posted on the swim team board at the GC Pool on Saturday, June 20, 2026.

Registration Fee

 

The registration fee is $150 for the first swimmer in a family, $130 for the second swimmer, and $110 for each additional swimmer. This fee includes the team suit, swim cap, t-shirt, and end-of-season award.

 

Expectations 

 

All swimmers representing the Village of Garden City are expected to be models of good sportsmanship and team spirit. Swimmers must attend team practices regularly and compete in the required number of dual meets to be eligible for the championship meet at the end of the season.
