Andrew Salecker, Head Coach

This is Andrew's seventh summer leading the Garden City "A" Swim Team. Andrew swam competitively for a number of teams since he was six years old, including Long Island Express Swimming, Chaminade High School Varsity Swimming, University of Delaware Club Swimming, Garden City Summer Swimming, and St. Anne's CYO Swimming. Andrew conducts swim lessons for Garden City Recreation and Island Swim Academy and has coached St. Anne's CYO Swimming. He has lifeguarded at the Garden City Pool for ten years and teaches at Chaminade High School in Mineola, New York. Andrew works with the senior members of the team.   

Matthew Giordano, Assistant Coach

This summer marks Matt's fifth year coaching the Garden City "A" Swim Team. He swam on Garden City High School Boys Varsity Swimming and Diving and Garden City Summer Swimming for four years. Besides coaching and swimming, Matt has given private swim lessons and worked as a lifeguard for seven years. He has a passion to teach and coach and to see the progress of each individual swimmer. Matt works with the junior members of the team. 

Caitlin Powderly, Assistant Coach

Caitlin has coached the Garden City "A" Swim Team for four years, and she swam on the team herself for eight years. She also swam for four years on Garden City High School Girls Varsity Swimming and Diving and became a four-time county and state qualifier. In addition, she swam for the Echo Park Pirates for one season and St. Anne's CYO Swimming for several seasons. Along with swimming, she lifeguards and teaches group and private lessons at the Garden City Swimming Pool and Adelphi University. She currently attends the University of Delaware and is a member of University of Delaware Club Swimming. Caitlin works with the novice members of the team.

Lauren Oleksiw, Head Coach

This is Lauren's third summer coaching the Garden City "B" Swim Team. When she was six years old, Lauren began swimming for Garden City Summer Swimming and St. Anne's CYO Swimming. Additionally, she swam on Garden City High School Girls Varsity Swimming and Diving for six years, beginning in seventh grade. For the past few years, Lauren has lifeguarded and taught swim lessons at the Garden City Pool and Adelphi University. Lauren is studying nursing at Adelphi and is continuing her swimming career on their Division 2 swim team, where she specializes in backstroke and freestyle. Lauren works with the junior members of the team. 

Caroline Bianchi, Assistant Coach

This is Caroline’s first year coaching the Garden City "B" Swim Team. In the past, Caroline swam on both of the Garden City Summer Swim Teams for eight years and Garden City High School Girls Varsity Swimming and Diving for six years. In addition, Caroline swam for Long Island Express Swimming for seven years, the Echo Park Pirates for one season, and St. Anne's CYO Swimming for three season. Along with swimming, she lifeguards and teaches group lessons at the Garden City Pool and Adelphi University. Caroline just graduated from the Catholic University of America and is currently earning her Masters in Accounting at the University of Scranton. Caroline will be working with the senior members of the team. 

Caity Bianchi, Assistant Coach

Caity is beginning her first year as a coach for the Garden City "B" Swim Team. She swam on Garden City Summer Swimming for ten years and Garden City High School Girls Varsity Swimming and Diving for six years. She was a county qualifier in 100 freestyle and was co-captain her senior year. In addition, Caity swam for Long Island Express Swimming, the Echo Park Pirates, and St. Anne's CYO Swimming. Along with swimming, Caity is a lifeguard and swim instructor at the Garden City Pool during the summer and at Adelphi University in the winter. Caity is a rising sophomore at Manhattanville College, where she is a member of the women’s lacrosse team. Caity will be working with the novice members of the team.
